Korea is operating 23 commercial nuclear power reactors with a total installed capacity of 20,716MW. Korea’s nuclear power generation capacity of 20,716MW is 35times the capacity it had in 1978, when Kori Unit 1, Korea’s first nuclear power plant, entered into commercial operation(587MW). In a short period of time, Korea has grown to become the world’s fifth-largest nuclear powerhouse.
