Korean shamanism has a long-standing history with its roots in the agricultural state of ancient time. Korean shamanism involves praying for blessings by worshiping objects indigenous to the region, including mountains, soil, monumental trees, and water. Korean shamanism perceives that nature is under the influence of a supreme power or god. Even today, people in some rural regions worship the old zelkova trees as the guardians of the village.
